Aftercare
The right aftercare routine can be the difference between great results and a setback — here's exactly what to do.
The treatment itself is only half the equation — what you do in the hours and days afterward has a real impact on your results. Laser, HydraFacial, and microneedling each come with their own aftercare window, and mixing them up is one of the most common ways clients accidentally slow down their own progress. Here's exactly what to do (and skip) after each.
Quick Facts
Laser hair removal aftercare window: Avoid sun, heat, and friction on treated skin for 24–48 hours
HydraFacial aftercare window: Minimal — avoid heavy makeup the same day, daily SPF
Microneedling aftercare window: The most sensitive of the three — avoid active ingredients and sun for 3–5 days
Universal rule: Daily SPF is non-negotiable after any of these treatments, especially the first week
When to call your provider: Unusual swelling, blistering, or symptoms lasting beyond the expected window
Avoid direct sun and tanning on treated areas for 24–48 hours, and skip hot showers, baths, saunas, and heavy sweating for the rest of the day — heat and friction can irritate freshly-treated follicles. Moisturize as usual, and remember that shaving between sessions is completely fine (encouraged, even), but waxing, threading, or plucking removes the hair root the laser needs to target at your next visit.
HydraFacial has the lightest aftercare of the three. Avoid heavy makeup for a few hours to let the hydrating serums fully absorb, and hold off on other exfoliating treatments — retinol, chemical peels — for about 24 hours. Daily SPF is still important, since freshly-exfoliated skin is a little more sensitive to sun exposure than usual.
Microneedling requires the most careful aftercare of the three, because the treatment intentionally creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin that stay slightly more permeable for about 24 hours. During that window:
Generally, it's best to give your skin a few days to a week between different treatments so it has time to fully recover before the next one. Rather than guessing on your own, bring your goals to your free consultation and we'll help you build a treatment sequence — laser, HydraFacial, microneedling, or a combination — that gets you results without overwhelming your skin.
