Eyebrow Treatments
Permanent eyebrow treatments have transformed the beauty industry — but the number of options can be overwhelming. Microblading, powder brows, ombre brows — what's the difference, and which is right for you? Our certified technicians at American Laser Plus break it down.
Technique: A handheld blade tool creates individual, hair-stroke incisions in the skin and deposits pigment. Each stroke mimics a natural brow hair.
Result: The most natural-looking option. Ideal for clients who want to fill sparse brows or create shape while maintaining a realistic, hair-by-hair appearance.
Best for: Normal to dry skin. Oily skin types may find that hair strokes blur over time as oil pushes the pigment outward.
Longevity: 12–18 months with a touch-up at 6–8 weeks. May fade faster on oily skin.
Technique: A digital machine deposits pigment using a dotting motion, creating a soft, powdered makeup look across the brow shape.
Result: A fuller, more defined brow that looks like you've perfectly filled them in with makeup — but without the daily effort.
Best for: All skin types, including oily skin. The machine technique creates less trauma to the skin surface, which means better pigment retention across skin types.
Longevity: 2–3 years with proper care. The most durable option of the three.
Technique: A variation of powder brows where the inner corner of the brow is lighter and gradually darkens toward the tail — creating a soft gradient or ombre effect.
Result: A sophisticated, editorial look. More defined than microblading but with a soft, blended quality that's more forgiving than a solid powder brow.
Best for: Clients who prefer a more made-up look. Works beautifully on all skin tones.
Longevity: 2–3 years, similar to powder brows.
All three techniques are safe for dark and olive skin tones when performed by an experienced technician. At American Laser Plus, we customize pigment color to complement your natural skin tone — avoiding the ashy or grayish tones that can occur when the wrong pigment is used on darker skin.
For clients with oily skin (common among darker skin types), we typically recommend powder or ombre brows over microblading for better long-term retention.
